Cuando Josephine tenía 19 años decidió alistarse a la armada de Malawi convirtiéndose en una de las primeras soldados en su país. Años más tarde consiguió ser designada como Sargento a la misión de paz de Naciones Unidas en Costa de Marfil.
Josephine is from Malawi, where she left her family and friends to serve in the Ivory Coast UN peacekeeping mission. She is part of the Blue Helmets contingent. When she was 19 years old she joined the Malawi army becoming one of the first women soldier in her country. Few years later, she was appointed for her first peace keeping mission as Sergeant.
